The Food Pantry

Berkeley Food Pantry, serving the hungry in Berkeley and Albany since 1969

The Berkeley Food Pantry is a ministry of Berkeley Friends Church which provides monthly bags of nutritious emergency groceries to Berkeley and Albany residents. Through the combined efforts of two paid part-time staff, a core of 50 dedicated volunteers, the Alameda County Community Food Bank, community members, local businesses, and the USDA Emergency Food Assistance Program, the Pantry is able to provide enough emergency groceries for 3 days or 9 meals to over 2,000 people in need per month.

The Food Pantry operates under the fiscal sponsorship of the church, a 501(c)(3) religious organization, and is governed by the church’s Peace, Environment, and Christian Social Concerns Committee.

To qualify for food, recipients must present a photo ID and evidence of residency in Berkeley or Albany.

The Pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 2-4 PM.
